Some of the UK’s best success stories were #MadeInStateSchool. We’re putting red plaques on state school gates to show our country’s state school proud children, students and professionals that they have just as much right to achieve. And we want you to tell us who should get one.
We’ve now closed nominations for the first batch of Made in State School plaques. However, we’re still accepting suggestions for future rounds - so be sure to nominate your state school icon below.

If selected, we’ll get in touch with the nominee’s school to install a plaque

Any state school or sixth form college in the UK can receive a plaque. Schools are welcome to nominate themselves and an alum.

We want to celebrate recognisable role models to state educated young people, whether that’s in the arts, science, sport or something we haven’t even thought of.
The campaign is ‘Made in State School’ - so naturally, we would like recipients to be state educated. -
You don’t - but if your nomination is successful, we will contact them to let them know their plaque is going up. If they decline, we will have to respect this choice.
